I replaced my original DS with this DS Lite. My "original" was bought on release day, and survived several drops to the floor. All but that last fall, anyway :)

The new one is smaller, has a better battery life, and dimmable screen. It’s great.

I am on my second DS as the first one literally wore out in one year. Yes, the hinge broke like so many others have reported. The touch screen seems to get scratched and turn gray from dragging when playing VIRUS BUSTERS, which is my favorite..(played it every day for one year until it maxed out of memory..started over). I have about nine different games, BRAIN AGE 2 being my favorite (it includes virus busters). I still haven’t figured how to play SUPER MARIO. Wouldn’t be without one of these amazing gadgets.

This is absolutely the prettiest DS Lite out. I had the Green & the solid Pink & this one gets so much more attention & people stop & ask me where did I get it. It’s simply striking!! The fact that a portion of the proceeds go to Susan G. Komen is ALSO a huge plus! Gents, buy THIS one for your wife in more ways than one!!!

  • Beat Bowser in the race to the crystals
  • Single player story campaign in five different giant locations
  • Unlock mini-games as you progress
  • Play in Story, Puzzle or Minigame modes
  • Four person multiplayer option

Product Description

You’d think years of defeat would get to a guy, but Bowser just doesn’t give up! He’s captured Mario and his friends in his pursuit of a crystal that the group collected when it fell from the sky, and he doesn’t hesitate to shrink them to miniature size to get rid of them and get his hands on the other four crystals. The mini-heroes have to find the crystals before he does, making their way through giant environments filled with enormous creatures. The single-player campaign takes place in five different settings, each of them ending with a boss. As usual, players have to collect coins and stars, at the same time escaping dangers such as Piranha Plants and other classic creatures from the Mario universe. As they progress through the game, players also can unlock various mini-games, such as Rail Riders, Sweet Sleuth and Goomba Wrangler! When players are tired of exploring the story mode, they can choose one of the other modes, like Puzzle and Minigame. Play with up to four friends on the DS’ local Wi-Fi and let the party begin! This is a very fun game to play either by yourself or with someone else who has a nintendo ds game console. I also have the marioparty 8 which is for the WII console. They are both excellent games. I believe this a game everyone who likes to have fun buy.

Review date : 2008-10-06
Many years ago I played this game on Nintendo 64. When I bought myself a Nintendo DS as a treat, I was happily surprised to learn that they had made an edition of Mario Party for it. And also to my surprise, the game translated beautifully from console to hand-held.

Good:
-Graphics are unbelievably clear and liquid.
-Frequent auto-saves ensure you won’t lose your place.
-Mini-games are FUN, I have come across some old favorites.
-Numerous ways to play; from the classic board-game setup to new individual ‘puzzle games’.
-Lots of bang for your buck, you won’t get bored easily.

Bad:
-One level was incredibly hard to beat and I couldn’t go on to the next board game until it was cleared; though I realize this is an issue of skill, it took months!
-I’m on the last board and there are a few of the old mini games that I loved that have yet to appear. Hopefully they just aren’t unlocked yet! There’s gotta be Hot-Rope-Jump, right?

Let me first say that I bought this game for my girlfriend and I to play togeather on the DS. It was everything expected out of a mario party game. Lots of Mini games, single wireless card play, just an awesome DS game.

thank you for the game it was a great buy hope to buy more from you soon..

Just as good as the others on Gamecube and better than Wii. If you like to party, get Mario Party!

This is great. Bought it for my 6 year old daughter. When her cousins saw it they had to have one, too. Holds lots of games. We are also able to get car adapter, earphones, charger, and Guitar Hero attachment in the pak with the Nintendo. Lots of room!

Review date : 2008-08-29
I purchased this product after reading the reviews. It has been a perfect choice for my 5 year-old daughter. There is sufficient padding to protect the DS when/if it’s dropped. There is plenty of room to store both the car and the electric charger. I agree that the elastic used to hold the games in is tight, however if it weren’t it would defeat the purpose as the games would fall out when you close it. The ones on the end seem to be the smallest, we won’t need to use them until we own several more games, and then we (the adults) would just keep our games in the end slots. The pocket in the front is great for keeping an extra stylus and battery. If someone wanted to keep the books in the case, I do not think there would be enough room unless you only stored the DS and the games in the organizer.

Review date : 2008-08-28
I thought this would be better, bigger, more organized. It is the best one that is available yet; however, they need to make a better one.

Review date : 2008-08-05
The case is great for the Nintendo DS. There is tons of room inside. On one side you can velcro in your DS, the the other side holds games. There is room for extras. There is room for plastic cases that hold the games. A real value for the money!

I bought this for my daughter’s 6 th birthday and she has found it a little difficult to play. I feel this game is much better suited for the 8 yr olds. There is a lot of reading throughout the game and at her age she got bored and frustrated before finishing it.

Review date : 2008-08-31
This game is wonderful, i bought it used and it works great,it performs like new!

Review date : 2008-06-30
I guess when I bought this game I liked Hannah Montana. But Hannah Montana’s childish to me now, and this game shows it. It’s way too easy, and its just too easy and going to the same places gets old. I mean when you play it its fun but then it just ends too quickly and you don’t want to play again.

Review date : 2008-03-24
I thought I bought a Video of Hannanh Montana, but it was a game. I contacted the seller and he said I could return it for credit. It cost me $4.98 to sent it to him. he had to sign for it. It was returned to me. I wrote to the seller again and he hasn’t responsed.

Review date : 2008-03-05
I just recently bought this game and love it! It is so much fun! I love the show Hannah Montana so I thought I would give this game a shot, and im totally glad I did! You get to live the life of Miley Stewart and try to solve mysteries including all the original characters(Oliver, Jackson, Robbie Ray, Amber, Ashley, and Rico). If your a girl ages 6-14 i definetly suggest this game to you!!

After playing for a week I’m bored, and on the DS screen the cars are the size of ants.
It’s an OK game, but I’m sorry I wasted my money on it. If it is true, that according to all DS reviews, this is one of the better games, why do people with a brain bother? Life is interesting and sometimes exciting. Mario Cart is like sticking your head in a little box and thinking you are actually using it.

I and my Grandson each have a copy of this on our DS consols, and have the greatest of fun racing against each otehr.
We have a similar habit on teh Wii, for when we are in different locations, and teh simklarity of a number the courses between teh Wii and DS versions of this game means that you can concentrate on the racing, rather than learning a new course. (Mind you , some of the courses are different, so this problem cannot be totally avoided ;)

So, fun for young and the not-so-young alike.

(I did hear that this game on the DS could integrate with the Wii game; not tried that yet, but not apparent where this will occur, unless through WFC?… Hmm, more playtime! ;)

bought this game for my son’s 4th birthday with a few others. Was expecting him to like the crayola more but he is in love with this game. He can’t put it down. At first I was worried if he would have the attention span for the game at all but it turns out that it’s harder to get him off of it. LOL. Great buy.

Ah, the fun of racing. Of course, this time I’m talking about Mario Kart DS, probably my favourite Nintendo DS game. Sadly. I’ve only really played one other version and that was the one for the Nintendo 64. Luckily, I loved it so much that I only ever played another game or two on that system. Period. Also, luckily for me, the version on the DS has some of the tracks I grew to love. If you also fell in love with previous versions, you’ll find tracks from the SNES version and the GBA version, too.

The concept is simple, you play as Mario or one of the franchise characters and you race others. You hit item boxes to get items to help you on your way and make the game a little more exciting. Besides racing, you can do time trials, battle or missions (which seem to be common with Nintendo DS games).

To to the spirit of Mario Kart (one of the things I love most about this game), which is being pitted against your friends, you can play with others via 2 methods. The first method is called multiplayer and is with a friend (or 7!) in within range of your system. You can play with those who have the game (Normal) or those who do not (simple). Friends without the game can download a more limited version to their Nintendo DS for the time being. Of course, with the WiFI capabilities of the DS, you can also play with anyone across the globe as long as you have access to a compatible wireless network.

Besides that aspect, how is gameplay? I find it to be pretty fun even when it’s just single player.

Like previous versions, you can play Grand Prix which is divided into 4 Cups made up of 4 tracks to compete for bronze, silver or gold place. In this game, you can also get a rating of letters or stars. Letters A - D work like grades in school and stars - from 1 - 3 - are even better ratings above A. The Grands Prix are divided into classes based on speed (engine size), also like previous versions: 50cc, 100cc and 150cc. In this version, you can also play the 150cc Mirror version which is a flipped (not backward) version of the tracks.

The game comes with several Grand Prix cups locked. By playing each of the Cups before it and earning the gold, you unlock the cups. Each cup can be unlocked in each of the engine classes.

The Grand Prix is also divided into two classes - Nitro and Retro. Nitro contains new tracks and Retro contains tracks from previous games.

If you’re not interested in playing a whole cup or want to play more than one, you can play Versus. This gameplay consists of track after track according to settings you choose which include engine class, kart difficulty, course order, rules (or lack there-of) and teams. You can play free for as long as you want and quit at any time. If you want to play to a certain score or a certain number of races, you set that in the rules.

To practice the runs, play time trial. Time trials have a new feature where you can send or relieve a "ghost," that is a slightly transparent recording of an already completed time trial. You can see how you’re doing against your previous trials or those of a friend.

Like previous versions, you can play Battles. Mario Kart DS includes Balloon Battles although, there is a slight difference from older versions. Instead of starting with 3 balloons, you start with 5, only 1 of which is blown up. Using the microphone, you blow up the others up to 3 at a time. Once all your active balloons are popped by items and damage, you lose, even if you have balloons in reserve so you must always blow them up.

There’s also a new version of battle, Shine Runners. In these, you collect little stars called Shines. Every time you are damaged or hit with an item, you lose a shine. Periodically, those players with the fewest sines are eliminated until only the player with the most Shines still remains.

The newest addition is that of the missions. With 7 different levels containing 8 missions plus a boss stage, you have to complete different tasks such as driving through gates, collecting coins, collecting and using items on others or doing turbo boosts to earn a ranking of stars or letters (the same as cup rankings). Each stage earns a ranking and each level earn and overall ranking.

One of the features I like about this game is the ability to unlock things. Completing tasks or racing well offers rewards of extra characters or karts. Overall, there are 12 characters including classics like Luigi, Yoshi and Princess peach as well as let known faces like Princess Daisy, Dry Bones and ROB 64. There’s also a total of 36 karts to allow you more customization than previous versions.

If you’d like to customize it even more, there are options to edit your nickname and emblem which appear next to your character on on your kart, respectively.

Of course, being on a dual screen offers some new incentives as well. It allows for information to be displayed on its own screen and the overall playing image to be larger and more detailed. The Nintendo DS has pretty good graphics despite its small size so this is definitely a plus.

During races and battles, the top screen shows up close racing view while the lower one shows a map of the track and stats of the other racers. In settings modes, the actual settings show up on the touch screen where you can select them with additional information or images on the upper screen.

The one qualm I have about how Mario Kart DS is set up is that it does not fully take advantage of the innovative touch screen. Besides the title and selection screen, the touch screen is not even a factor in the game. Even during those times, the keys can be used as well.

Overall, I really enjoy this game. I love to play with my friends but it’s just as fun to play by myself. The Grand Prix provides exciting new runs as well as ones I love from older games. Even after unlocking all the different tracks and earning gold in all the cups, I can still keep myself busy by trying to improve my ranking for tracks, cups and missions.

The option to play with friends in my living room or across the world also adds variety to the game and although I’ve unlocked almost everything n the game, I still play it frequently. This is definitely a game whose bright colours and fun sounds will attract children of all ages. At the end of the Grands Prix, the first, second and third place winners drive up to a platform where they are crowned; I would definitely crown this game!

I’d like to get some items out of the way before talking about the not-so-great aspects of this game.

First, the interface works well. The handwriting recognition is very good. I like the zoom-in, zoom-out, big-grid style, and the sans-serif, unembellished font. The music is pleasant. It’s a game you can relax with. I don’t think the developers tried to compete with the New York Times Crosswords game, and I think the idea of providing puzzles "the whole family" can enjoy shows savvy market research. (Hmm…the back of the box reads, "Crosswords for everyone!" but the front cover shows an adult using the game.)

I thought I would like the anagrams section, but I became frustrated with it because it does not allow references to, for example, adult beverages. (The game has an "E for Everyone" rating.)

The Word Search can be fun, but the categories are hokey.

But the heart of the game is the puzzles, and they’re…well, too often exasperating. Ridiculouly easy clues pepper even the Hard puzzles; there’s little effort by the puzzle-makers to be witty or oblique. (You’ll rarely, if ever, find yourself smiling on the inside by these clues.)

More about the way the game works…

The opening of harder levels seems to be willy-nilly. I had to complete 11% of the Easy- and 34% of the Medium-level puzzles before the game unlocked the Hard puzzles, and so far I’ve completed 71% of those. I don’t know how many more Hard puzzles I need to complete before the game unlocks the next level.

Sure, I’m aware that the charm of many of these games lies in surprise revelations, but forging ahead in Crosswords DS is too often not great fun. Many of the puzzles are simply tedious. At times while completing some puzzles I felt I was simply going through the motions.

Is it because the same words are used again and again? Are "abash" and "abase" in at least in every other puzzle, along with some form of the word "acne"?

(Possible spoiler warning) Some answers have strange clues; for example, a clue for "sushi" is "rice that likes vinegar." Another clue perplexed me for a long time: "embellishes with garnish" ended up being "lards." I tried "lures" and that didn’t work, so I started to look at other areas of the puzzle for errors. I began questioning if I had given the right answers to the other clues.

Players can choose to be notified immediately if they’ve written an incorrect letter. I used this feature but stopped doing so when I’d completed about 60% of the Hard puzzles. I suspected that using this form of help might be keeping me from opening the puzzles one level above Hard.

So, I suppose I’ll do a puzzle now and then, and maybe someday — someday — the next level of harder puzzles will open, I hope, to crosswords that are a little more engaging.

I bought Crosswords, obviously for the crosswords, but I absolutely love the Anagrams. I’m not a word search fan at all, even though I love how easy it is to just trace your stylus over the words you’ve searched out. The crosswords is so small it is hard to keep scrolling back and forth to find the rest of the words, but I am so hooked on the anagrams. I would love for them to add some extra long words, more than 7 letters.
But i pick it up EVERY night, and it travels with me to Dr appts,
road trips, waiting to pick up children from school, at the DMV. It is so easy to save a game and pick right up where you left off. Would love to see them come out with JUST an anagram game. Also, I am over 60.

As someone who doesn’t usually enjoy crosswords, I love this game. the puzzles start out relatively easy and let you work up to the harder levels. I actually got this game for the word jumble, but I don’t even play that game that much because you have to guess EVERY single word that can be spelled from the letters given. I think I have only finished one! Even though I don’t play the work jumble that much or the word search, they are still good games.

I love this DS game. I am an old lady who uses her DS to keep myself mentally stimulated. I take care of my disabled husband and enjoy the fact that I can play the game for a while and save it if I get interrupted. I love Crossword puzzles but I find myself playing the word search and anagrams just as much if not more. I see where someone said this was a game for children……I guess I am going through my second childhood then.

I love it! I am an avid crossword puzzle solver but I play word search and anagram more than the crosswords. It’s a wonderful game and I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

I find these cases a lot better than the normal DS cases. Note that you cannot "stuff" more games in, so six is the max. They come in 3 colors. Seems tuff-e-nuff.

I ordered the Nintendo DS game holder. It really works well to keep your games in one place and safe from being damaged. It’s handy to have when you travel to see a friend or on vacation to take your best games with you and keep the games out of the sun and sand and safe.

These are the best cases I have found. They actually have the games snap in place so when my 6 yr old opens them they don’t go all over the floor. I am actually going to order more of these. They are a great value.

I love this! It keeps all my games together and organized! I plan to order more!

Hori has truly manufactured some really nice accessories for video game systems over the years. And they have done a splendid job in creating a durable and practical DS game card protective case. The compact design means that you can can squeeze up to 6 DS game cards into a single protective case, and travel without the need for lugging the much bulkier DS retail jewel cases. The product itself is made of a thick and durable, translucent plastic. It opens up from the side and you’ll note the design allows for the case to be used much like a traditional CD wallet. Simply place your DS game cards into the first 3 open slots, close the top lid so that it safely seals your initial 3 game cards, and flip it over to access the final 3 open slots on the bottom. The middle flap encased between a top and bottom door means it can withstand more impact than most single game case designs, because it’s thicker. So of all the DS protective cases out there right now, I believe this particular one is the most durable. Hori offers a few translucent colors to suit your tastes. Clear white is of course the easiest to see through.

*HORI vs A.L.S….HELPING YOU DECIDE WHICH IS GOING TO BE RIGHT FOR YOU*
Is the Hori product the best you can do for DS travel protection? Will it be the right choice? That’s all a matter of how you look at it in general. If you want to squeeze the most out of your money for a very quality product, then ALS industries offers a solution that may better suit you. Nintendo DS Lite Game Card Case

They offer a similar compact design that features all of the qualities the Hori game case offers except that each case is single layered. Although the ALS game case will only hold 3 DS game cards as opposed to 6, they offer 3 protective cases in a bundle package. Hori is only offering a single case. They both retail at the same exact price point too. The difference is that ALS allows you to store 9 games in total, as opposed to the 6 in the Hori product. Both ALS and Hori offer thick plastic builds and translucent see through cases, but only Hori offers multiple colors to choose from. Hori’s DS cases migt be just a little bit more durable due to it’s thicker build, but just a smidgen. You must ultimately decide on weather you want more DS game storage for the same price, or the unique design feature Hori offers. In the end, both products are very nice and both offer quality protection and travel convenience.
